ePrescribing accounts for over 10% of all prescriptions written nationwide, and Surescripts® operates the country's largest e-Prescribing network. By the end of 2009, the Surescripts network included over 150,000 prescribers accessing and routing prescription information for over 190 million electronic scripts per year.
Surescripts is dedicated to providing prescribers with quick and secure electronic access to information pertaining to not only medications but also patients' health records. The Surescripts network is accessed every day by thousands of providers across all 50 states and connects prescribers to many of the nation's largest payers (e.g. CVS Caremark, Aetna, Medco) as well as all of the nation's major chain pharmacies (e.g. WalMart, Walgreens, Rite Aid) and approximately 85% of independent/community pharmacies nationwide.
RxWriter is certified for all three Surescripts service types: Prescription Benefit, Prescription History, and Prescription Routing.
- Prescription Benefit: Electronically access a patient's prescription benefit information, including formulary and eligibility, and select medications that are covered by the patient's insurance plan and/or preferred by the payer.
- Prescription History: Electronically access a patient's prescription history in order to become better informed about past medication usage and to review potentially harmful drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions.
- Prescription Routing: Electronically submit new prescriptions and refills directly to pharmacies and receive electronic refill requests directly from pharmacies.
